POLARITY

Privacy Policy

Polarity · Last updated: 4 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data is processed when you use the Polarity Android game (package name com.pygdroid.polarity, the “App”) and the Polarity website (the “Website”), who processes it, and what rights you have. We have tried to keep it plain and readable.

In short

  • You can play Polarity without creating an account.
  • The game shows ads served by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google may collect information from your device, such as your advertising ID and IP address. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent first, and you can limit ad personalization in your device settings.
  • If you choose to create a leaderboard profile, we store your username, your country (optional) and your best bolt counts on our server. Your username, country flag and total are visible to other players.
  • We do not sell the information we hold about you, such as your leaderboard profile.
  • Apart from the technical data used by ads, the game does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, precise location, camera or microphone.
  • You can ask us to delete your profile at any time.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is PygDroid, publishing under the name Pygdroid. You can contact us at pygdroid@gmail.com.

2. What data we process and why

2.1 Data stored only on your device

The game saves, inside the App’s built-in web view (local storage on your device): your progress in each level (best bolt counts, medals, attempts and times), your Endless-mode record, your settings (music, sound effects, language), which tips you have already seen and, if you create a leaderboard profile, your username, country and personal recovery code. This data is not sent to us except as described in 2.2. It is deleted when you clear the App’s data or uninstall it.

2.2 Leaderboard profile (optional)

If you choose a username to appear on the world leaderboard, our server receives and stores: your username (2 to 12 characters), a country code (optional), your best bolt count in each of the 8 levels and their total, two timestamps (when the profile was created and when your total last improved), and a cryptographic hash of your personal recovery code (we do not store the code itself). After you create a profile, the App sends your updated bolt counts to the server when they improve.

Public information: your username, country flag and total bolts are shown to all players on the leaderboard. Please choose a name that does not identify you.

2.3 Country suggestion

The first time you open the profile form, the App tries to suggest your country. To do so it contacts third-party IP-geolocation services (api.country.is and, as a fallback, Cloudflare’s cdn-cgi/trace). Those services necessarily receive your IP address and standard technical headers in order to answer. We only keep the country code that is returned (on your device and, if you create a profile, on our server). We do not receive or store your IP address. If detection fails, the App uses the region of your device’s language. You can change the country or leave it blank at any time.

2.4 Technical data handled by service providers

2.5 Advertising (Google AdMob)

The App includes the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob), provided by Google, to show ads. When an ad is requested, shown or clicked, Google may collect and process information directly from your device, such as:

Google uses this information to deliver, limit the frequency of, measure and secure ads, to prevent fraud and, if you allow it, to personalize them. The SDK may also store or read information on your device (for example, identifiers) for these purposes. We do not receive this personal data: Google only gives us aggregated reports (such as impressions and estimated earnings). Google processes the data under its own privacy policy and, for the data it processes to serve and measure ads, generally acts as an independent controller. Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and in Google’s Privacy Policy.

Your choices about ads

2.6 What else we do not collect

Apart from the data Google handles for ads as described above, we do not ask for or collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, files, precise location, camera or microphone data. The App needs Internet access to show ads and the leaderboard, suggest your country and load fonts, and permission to read the advertising ID that Google’s ad SDK uses. You can play offline, although ads and the leaderboard need a connection.

4. Who receives your data and international transfers

We share data only with the providers needed to run the service: Google (leaderboard hosting, Google Play, Google Fonts and the AdMob advertising service) and the IP-geolocation providers mentioned above (api.country.is and Cloudflare, Inc.). Google’s advertising systems may in turn involve advertisers and advertising partners; see the Google information linked in section 2.5. We do not sell the personal data we hold about you. The data Google collects through AdMob is handled by Google as described in section 2.5. We may disclose information if required by law.

Some of these providers process data in the United States or other countries outside the European Economic Area. In those cases, transfers rely on the safeguards offered by the providers, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

5. How long we keep your data

6. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability and to withdraw your consent at any time. You can change your country in the App at any time.

To exercise your rights or ask us to delete your leaderboard profile, write to pygdroid@gmail.com with your username. Because there are no passwords or email addresses in the game, we may ask you to prove that the profile is yours with its recovery code. We will answer within one month.

Requests about the data Google collects for advertising must be addressed to Google (see section 2.5), because we do not receive that data.

If you think we have not handled your data properly, you can lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in Spain, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, www.aepd.es). Residents of some US states (for example, California) have additional rights. We do not sell the personal data we hold about you. Ad personalization by Google may be considered “sharing” or a “sale” for targeted advertising under some state laws; you can opt out using your device’s advertising settings, as described in section 2.5.

7. Children

Polarity is a general-audience arcade game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below the minimum age required where they live (between 13 and 16 in the European Union; 14 in Spain). If you are below that age, please do not create a leaderboard profile without a parent’s or guardian’s permission. If you believe a child has created a profile, contact us and we will delete it. Ads in the App are served by Google AdMob under Google’s advertising policies, and the App is not designed for children.

8. Usernames and moderation

Usernames are public. We apply a basic filter to reject offensive or reserved names and we may remove names or profiles that are inappropriate, impersonate others or abuse the service.

9. Security

Communication with the leaderboard server uses HTTPS. We store only a hash of your recovery code, not the code itself. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If the changes are significant, we will let you know through the App or the Website.
